DigiPlus Interactive Corp., a tech firm from the Philippines, has reached a milestone in its expansion efforts. Its subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda., has passed the qualification stage for a federal license with Brazil’s Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Awards and Bets (SPA). This accomplishment positions the company closer to entering Brazil’s newly regulated iGaming market, one of Latin America’s most dynamic and rapidly growing sectors.
Countdown to operational readiness
According to its latest filing with the Philippine Stock Exchange, DigiPlus now faces a 30-day window to meet regulatory requirements, including platform certification and the payment of licence fees. Once these steps are completed, the SPA will release its final list of authorised operators on January 1, 2025. Upon approval, DigiPlus will gain the right to operate online sports betting and other iGaming services in a market with over 200 million residents and a fervent enthusiasm for sports betting.
“We are committed to bringing DigiPlus’ expertise in responsible and innovative gaming to Brazil,” Eusebio Tanco, Chairman of DigiPlus Interactive Corp. said. “As we navigate the final steps of the licensing process, we remain confident in our ability to align with Brazil’s regulatory requirements and introduce world-class gaming experiences to this dynamic market.”
Strategic global expansion
The move aligns with DigiPlus’ strategy to diversify into international markets with strong regulatory frameworks. Brazil’s new iGaming laws present an opportunity for the company to contribute to a fair and transparent gaming environment.
“This underscores our dedication to expanding into a new region while maintaining our focus on the Philippines as our core market,” Tanco added.
DigiPlus has been a pioneer in the Philippines’ digital entertainment industry, operating platforms such as BingoPlus and ArenaPlus, renowned for their interactive gaming and sports entertainment offerings. The company also runs platforms like PeryaGame, Tongits+, and GameZone, with plans to introduce more.
With operations potentially starting in early 2025, DigiPlus aims to solidify its presence in one of the world’s most promising iGaming landscapes.
In 2023, DigiPlus achieved a net income of PHP4.1 billion (€67.1 million), a 596 percent increase from the previous year’s PHP686.8 million (€11.2 million). This growth was driven by its flagship platforms, BingoPlus and ArenaPlus, which, alongside traditional bingo operations and e-games, contributed over 90 percent of the company’s PHP27.3 billion revenue, up 306 percent from 2022. This rise in revenue was primarily fuelled by the widespread engagement of millions of Filipinos in bingo, both in physical parlours and through online channels.
