Gambling expenditure in Denmark increased by 4.5% in the fourth quarter of 2022, when compared to a year earlier. Data released by the shows that the total gross gaming revenue (GGR) for betting, online casino, gaming machines and land-based casino amounted to DKK 1,762 million (€236.5m) in the quarter October-December of last year. The DGA explained that all four gambling sectors experienced growth. It added – for comparison reasons – that gambling arcades and land-based casinos were closed for a short part of Quarter 4 of 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions. The total GGR in 2022 for betting, online casino, gaming machines and land-based casinos amounted to DKK 6.7 billion (€900m), representing a year-on-year increase of 8% “A calculation of the increase in fixed prices shows that the GGR of the four sectors has risen by 0.2 percent from 2021 to 2022.” While the data also includes charity lotteries in 2022, data on monopoly lotteries will be published in spring. The first data from 2023 is expected to be published at the beginning of March, the authority said.
