With the Philippine government’s treasury resources depleted, the Philippine House of Representatives suggested that online gaming companies should be allowed to resume work immediately.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation Vice Chairman and ACT-CIS Party Chinese Rep. Eric Go Yap said that the Philippine Entertainment Gaming Company may consider resuming online gaming business, but gaming companies should follow the enhancement Community quarantine guidelines.

Yap suggested that one can work from home to ensure the safety of employees of online gaming companies.

PAGCOR earlier ordered the suspension of online gaming and its service providers during the closure of the city. PAGCOR said that the ban was implemented to ensure the safety of all gaming workers and to prevent the virus from spreading further by restricting the actions of workers. However, Yap called for the ban to be lifted.

‘Given that the government’s treasury is exhausted, we should immediately resume online gaming companies to greatly increase our tax revenue. We need funds to prevent epidemics. Life is at stake and we need to act quickly.’
